Another HVAC problem
While I've been in Afghanistan, my brother and law replaced the heater core in my wifes 01 ZR2 with manual climate control. Ever since the job has been done, Air constantly blows out the front vents. The control **** works to change it to Defrost and floor but some air still comes out the vents, so she has to close them to get good floor heat or defrost. Even with the blower turned completey off hot air still comes through the vents.

I would love to know what causes this, as I have the same problem. I am currently searching for the answer and will post back if i find something.

This could be a simple or difficult fix.
Simple: Vacuum lines leaking or disconnected under the hood or behind the dash.
Difficult: One of the flaps/doors in the HVAC box has either broken, was not re-connected properly or something was left in the box causing the vent door to be stuck open or partially open.
The HVAC box has 3 or 4 doors that direct air flow to defrost, vents or floor area. If you lose vacuum to the door actuators, the air flow usually defaults to the defrost mode. Since you can select the flow, the problem is probably going to be one of the doors.
If you have hot air regardless of the position of the temp selector setting, your blend door actuator may be one of the problems. This is located behind the glove box, is activated by an electric motor, and might not have been plugged back in. A search for "blend door" will give you way more info on this than I can.
Thank you for your service. It IS appreciated.

I found the problem with mine. The vacuum actuator that runs the mode door for floor or vent was bad. It is located under the dash above the gas pedal. It is the one with a yellow and a brown vacuum line going to it.

Well I'm currently in the process of leaving Afghanistan and heading back to Germany for about a week then back home to CT for 28 days of VACA. So I have about 19 days to go until I can personally work on the wife's blazer. I appreciate the help I'll be tearing that thing apart asap when I get home
