Big problem with timing
Hello everybody,
I have problem with my gmc jimmy 2000 when I replace the lower intake gasket the distributor become different and its not start. So, I try to aligned but the problem is that I don't see mark on the harmonic balancer nothing is there. I also, sand it and clean it but no mark on it anyone know what can I do now ?

no crankshaft balancer

https://blazerforum.com/forum/2nd-ge...e-87514/page3/ post#29 This is on my 2001. Will (should) be identical to your 2000. Guess the marks might actually be on the grooved pulley (I can't remember for certain) - but they are there.

Whatever tomorrow brings (I bet You have the balancer, it's GM part of the engine) here what You can do:
- get an usb endoscope
- remove spark plug #1 and put the camera into the cylider
- bring the piston #1 to a top dead center
- set the distributor so the arrow will match the marker
- try cranking. If it does not start, means You're on the wrong TDC (cylinder goes twice to a TDC per cycle in 4-stroke engine). Turn the distributor 180 degrees.
