Blazer Starting and not starting

Blazer Starting and not starting
I was having to use starter fluid on my truck all winter and when it strated to warm up outside (40 F) it still had the same trouble starting. Well recently i discovered that if i turn the ignition to the farthest position it just cranks and cranks and then eventually starts, but if i turn the ignition just barely into the start position then it fires up easily any suggestions ?

RE: Blazer Starting and not starting
This would indicate that you have a fuel leak somewhere in the system. By turning the key on for a bit, you are giving the fuel pump time to prime the system before you attempt to start. The engine requires >55psi to start. If you test the fuel pressure on initial key on, then turn the key off and then monitor the fuel pressure over the next 5 to 10 minutes. If it drops more than 2-3psi, you have a leak in the system. You can then remove the fuel filter and adapt the fuel pressure gauge to the tank side of the fuel line and pressurize the system by turning the key on, then back off. If the pressure does not drop, then the leak is inside the engine. If that is the case, it is mostlikely the fuel pressure regulator.
