Hello, I have a 1995 Blazer 4.3L v6 4x4 I am wondering is it possible to swap out my transmission with one out of a 1998? ( I have manual 4 wheel drive not push button) and I also have the rear end out of the 98 because it has disc brakes.
My intentions at first was swapping motors but didnt want to mess with all the wireing crap so decided to just use the block from the 98 and the heads and intake off the 95 (still strong no knocks or ticks) but I have noticed trans shifting hard and some slipping so I kept the trans as well. are they the same? will it need wired or will it hook up right? I know the 95 trans has the inspection plat on the trans and a (big) starter not the small like the 98 trans. But cant I change the bellhousing?(lifetime warranty on 95 starter). Any help would do thank you.

I'm not sure but I think the wiring connectors will be different. One thing I do know is the bolt on bell housing wasn't implemented until 1996 for the 4L60E.

 

It's been asked quite a bit before. If the pump on the front of the transmission has PWM embossed on it, then you can use the 98 transmission. If not, then you cannot.

As stated, the bellhousings will be different with the 98's being removable and a full circle housing with no dust cover. If your engine has the support struts from the engine block to the transmission dust cover, then you would not be able to use them without modification.

 

i am not to about the PWM hing is there a picture of what it looks like? and stated before I will be using the 98 block and 95 heads and intake. the connectors on the side of the trans look similar from eye but may be different. thank again guys

 

Missed the part about the 98 block. Given that, it should bolt up just like it does to any other 98+ engine.

"PWM" will be written (embossed = raised letters) on the front of the pump cover. You will need to remove the transmission and the torque converter to see the pump cover. PWM stands for Pulse Width Modulated and refers to the torque converter clutch lockup control.

 

ok I will look tomorrow I have the torque converter out of the trans I thought I seen some weird stamping that said that. also I was told about a PWM Eliminator valve and found one on http://www.700r4l60e.com/store/produ...?productid=315 can that be used as well?
