Blower control module on 01 blazer LS

Blower control module on 01 blazer LS
Ok so my heater/ac is not blowing on 1 & 2, it blows but squeals on 3 & 4, took it to the shop, they said it is a bad blower motor & resistor, BUT they aren't sure if my truck is equipped with a Blower Control Module and if it is that is additional $357.00 on top of the $381 for the motor & resistor and they want to charge $100 just to check and see if I have one... Can anyone give me any advice?

If it works on all 4 speeds, then the motor is at fault and the resistor is likely fine. The resistor module is responsible for the speeds and typically results in the fan not working in one or more of the speeds.
The fact that you stated you have 4 speeds means that you do not have a blower control module which would provide a variable speed output, not 4 discrete speeds.
It sounds like the shop you took it to was trying to take advantage of you instead of looking into the problem for a better estimate of costs.

Sorry I missed that it wasn't working on 1 & 2 and read it that 1 & 2 work with 3 & 4 working, but a noise.
So yeah, then the resistor is bad as well. Both are fairly easy to replace. The resistor is located on top of the HVAC enclosure under the hood near the distributor. The fan is between the PCM and the HVAC housing on the firewall right near the passenger side fender.
For more information, the only time there is a blower control module is when the truck is equipped with automatic climate control. In which case, the blower control module takes the place of the blower resistor module.
