Default Broken door.

Any one have any ideas on fixing this. It's on the driver side. Even ifif can think of a temporary fix, I'd be willing to get in on the passenger side door a while. Also, I know that welding it back together will work. I don't know how to weld, but is welding my only option.

Welding in a patch panel and bolting the striker back on is really the only way to actually fix it...

Common issues these Blazers run into. The door hinge pin bushings wear out, the door starts sagging, eventually it gets so bad the door doesn't close right. Then the driver just starts slamming the door shut, and eventually the metal the striker is on just fatigues and rips apart just as yours has done.

Mine's been welded back together, before I ever got it... Only way I can tell is by the obvious taped off and painted section around the striker lol

I've thought about riveting a plate over the hole, then mounting the bracket to it as a temp fix, but if your willing to scrawl through the passenger, strap the door shut and keep it locked from the inside. A little ghetto looking, but can atleast get around without your door flying open.

Mine is getting to that point. Fortunately, my dad and a friend own welders, so I'll hopefully be getting it fixed sooner rather than later. If you don't have access to a welder, I wonder what a body shop would charge?

Gotta fix the hinge also, or else it'll just break it again. Pisses me right off gm didn't put bolt on hinges. Have to cut them off and weld on a new one

Yep, has to be welded.

See https://blazerforum.com/forum/showpo...&postcount=371 for an example of someone with a similar issue that has nice pics

Thank you everyone, I'll figure out how to get it welded.
