Default changing front axle

ok ive done alot of serching with no definite answer.i need to change a front pass. axle on my wifes 99.im gonna do both ball joints as the top is factory and the bottoms been in for at least 5 years.i know to pop both ball joints, loosen the axle nut and drive out axle from hub.but how does the axle come out of diff?most of my searches come up with prying it out because of a snap ring and another said there are 4 bolts.i would like to know what to expect.thanks for any help.

yes you can pry at the cv shaft to get it out. or use a board and tap it with a hammer to get it free. once the hub and spindle are out the way it is pretty easy to do. you might as well do the seal there at the axle tube messing with it will probably cause a leak.

this may help you out.

Not to hijack the thread, but this is process similar to the drivers side? I thought the seal on the drivers side was up at the differential?

If you rent these 2 tools, it's amazing how fast & easy the axle pops out! One smack and it's out, piece of cake.

OEM/5 lbs. Slide Hammer (27033) | Slide Hammer | AutoZone.com

OEM/FWD Axle Puller Adapter (27058) | FWD Axle Puller Adapter | AutoZone.com

Excellent idea to replace the axle seal while you've got the axle out.
