Ok wasn't leaking out of the fuel test port. But I had to cave and take it to a mechanic cause I'm out of time (starting new job). He just called and said its the o2 sensor that is affecting gas mileage and making it run rough? Does that sound right? I know that's not the leaking part tho he is looking for that as we speak.
If it is the o2 sensor how hard are they to replace if you never done one before? Need any special tools?

On a 96 it could be tough if it has not been done before. Need to hit it with a torch and braker bar. Monkey/pipe wrench or expensive tool. Cheap ones they give you at zone are crap. Let him do it while he has it and good luck with your new job!

A dead O2 sensor can cause poor mileage and rough running. The PCM is applying maximum pulse width, (full rich) to all 3 injectors on the driver side. Not difficult at all to replace. Drive it and get it hot, un plug & unscrew it. Some of the auto parts stores rent oxygen sensor sockets, if you need it.

The sensor is under $100 and less than 1/2 hour labor, but don't forget his diagnosis time.

Did they do a leakdown test?

What's with the spare tire carrier, tail pipe, and steering wheel in your signature image? It's not RHD, must be a mirror image

Not difficult, and no special tools involved, but the injector assembly is ~$200 on Amazon. Make sure you get the upgraded injector assembly, Delphi # FJ10565.
