Default converting to 2wd

so i have a 98 blazer with 172000 miles on it and was wondering what would be involved to change it to a 2wd?

Are the frames the same between the 2wd and the 4wd?
are the rear ends different?

the reason I want to do this is because I do not use the 4wd and like my vehicles low not high so I want to slam it on air and figured that I would get a little better gas milage with the weight lost from removing the 4wd components

I know that I will need a transmission tail piece, but id the rear drive shaft longer on the 2wd?
what is the difference in the front suspention beside the spindles and the front diffriencial?
all of the joint and and bushing are pretty much worn out So I figured I might as well do the 2wd conversion

Any help that can be offered is appriciated

It's been discussed before. Try the 'search' function and see what you can find.

I have tried searching but I must not be entering the right search string to find anything, and 2wd is to common and short for the search

Wouldnt it be a wee bit cheaper to just buy a 2wd and slam that?? Sell yours and rebuy something else..
