Default Dimmed lights at the gear indicator window

It happened only once yesterday. I started the engine, then geared in R and I got nothing but wierd noises from the gearbox while the light at the window in the panel (where you see the PNRD21 information) got quite dimmed (or maybe just dessapeared for a few seconds).
After a few gear shift movements, restarting of the engine and some fear about the gear box integrity everything was fine: light returned at the panel window and the Blazer was in gear as always.
Any tip about this issue?.
