Default Distributor end play

Does anyone know the range of end play on the distributor on a 2001 W engine? I have right at .030", which seems excessive to me, but I wanted to make sure before I go and buy a new distributor. Thanks in advance for any help.

That does not seem too excessive, IMO.

Most distributor rebuilders will shim aluminum bodied distributors to around 0.020" clearance to allow for expansion of the metal. Not sure what a plastic bodied distributor would do when heated...

Stock distributors on GM vehicles I have owned and worked on have been anywhere from 0.015" to 0.090" (yes 90 thou), some that high straight out of the box.

Thanky, Kyle! I went ahead and put it back in and took the spider out this morning and cleaned the intake out etc, and stuck it all back together and.....VOILA! Its STILL missing and the timing is STILL off Ive about come to the conclusion that I either need a new ECM or mine needs to be reflashed cuz everything else seems copacetic and the ECM just doesnt seem to get the timing down. It runs like its 180 off but Ive tried correcting that just outta curiosity and it definitely wasnt that. And yet when I manually set the timing exact, I crank it up and its way off. If it was a horse, Id have already shot it
