Distributor install. HELP PLEASE

Default Distributor install. HELP PLEASE

i pulled out my distributor to get to some bolts on the tranny mounts and when putting back in the distubitor, i was told to put cylinder 1 at TDC, and the distributor needle needed to bepointing at distributor 1, i attepmted this numourus times, and the car still wont start. Can you please help me? Also can you give me tips on how to get the 1st cylinder at TDC? with out any speacialty tools. any help is greatly appreciated

Without knowing what year truck you have - maybe this link will help. I would also get a Haynes manual.

*Moving to 2nd Gen Tech*
Please add the vehicle information to this thread as you did the duplicate thread in the Gen Tech section..

On thing you may have to do is rotate the oil pump drive to make sure that it is aligned with the distributor. A long, clean screwdriver can be used to rotate it before dropping the distributor back down.

Between the thread posted by riddle and the one above, you should have all of the information necessary to get the distributor back in properly.
