Electrical drain on battery???
Hello guys,
95 4.3 blazer. Thought it was battery so bought a new one. Still, overnight draining battery. Truck won't start every morning??? I then un-attached after market amp/speaker set which was on truck for at least 8 years - that did not work either...
Any suggestions of where to begin checking where the electric drain is going??? How would you begin searching???
Please Advise.

Aftermarket alarm system? I know mine did it, but Swartlkk posted a fix about that (adding a relay)
You may want to list all aftermarket parts/accessories you have on the vehicle so these guys can get a feel for it.

The alarm was installed by GM when truck was bought new. The valet switch has been inop since I bought the truck in '98.
I will try your suggestion CLicky.
Thanx

What you should do is put an amperage meter between your battery and your ground and measure the amps flowing when the car is off and the key is out. If amps are flowing that is called a parasitic draw. If there is a parasitic draw one by one take out fuses in your fuse box under your dash. When you take on out check to see if the amps dropped. If they did then you can look and see which fuse you pulled and know where your draw is coming from.
Hope that helps.

O.k. guys I just returned home from a long trip... Just for the heck of it, I tried to start the truck when I got home. Wouldn't you know it, it started right up????
Now, I think it may be the starter cylinoid??? Any thoughts??? I am baffled on this one. I have been back for a few days. I have had similar episodes with starting and not starting.
Thank you again for your thoughts!
