Electrical gremlin plauging 99 Blazer!!
Hey all,
New register here; however I've referenced this site a few times and found great help. Unfortunately I have been striken with the famous electrical gremlin that seems to be a major problem with this generation of Blazers.
99 Blazer; 4.3l 2wd
I have come down with the common syptom of the gauges "freaking out" followed by the truck shutting itself off no matter what the speed. it has happened driving down the highway at 70mph, idleing in a drivethrough, and my personal favorite while crossing a busyintersection. No codes have been spit out and truck will fire back up after it's temper tantrum.
I know this is not a fuel related issue, my pump works fine. In fact I replaced it several months ago and it still has the telltale "whir" during start up. It has to be electrical, otherwise the gauges wouldn't freak out like they do right before engine shut down. Now before you frag me with the usual "fixes" or "use the search" let me explain what I have done so far as i have spent countless hours reading posts with thesame EXACT problembut no real answer as to what fixed it.
1. I did notice my postive cable was heavily corroded. I removed all battery cables and cleaned the snot out of ALL connectionsuntil they were shiny and new. Yes, I also cleaned the battery terminals. This seemed to be the fix until the truck acted up again a few weeks later. Back to the forums.
2. Had battery and alternator checked; both checked good. Reinstalled. Problem still exists.
3. The almighty fix all that has helped everyone but me; the Ignition switch. Replaced with new one. Problem still persists.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated before I beat myself in the crotch repeatedly with a whiffle ball bat.

Check all fuses, maybe one loose somewhere. Also check any major connections, especially the plugs under the engine fuse block or behind the interior fuse block. I recently replaced the ignition switch and flasher switch while chasing a major electrical issue. Found one of the plugs under engine fuse block loose, which further restrained me from suicide. Hope this helps, good luck!

Verify your Ground wire has a good solid connection to the frame.
