Default erratic and flucuating oil pressure guage

Hi i have an issue with an erattic oil dash guage. On first startup the guage will jump to between 60-80 which i know is normal. Once warmed up the guage will settle around 20 at idle. On acceleration the gauge will climb to 40-50 on average and stay around 40 when cruising at a steady speed. MY issue is when stopped at traffic lights sometimes the guage will rapidly fluctuate back and forth between 18-22. Then a couple of traffic lights later the guage will read steady at 20 without moving at all. Some days it will remain steady all day. There were times when starting up the gauge will peg all the way up,return to normal only jump all the way up when revved up. It hasnt done this in quite some tim though. Oil and filter is changed every 3-5 with the proper grade. Oil pressure switch was replaced with new ac/delco months ago with no change in the symptoms. Is there something else i can look into to correct. Is this a sign of future problems with the engine.Other than this the truck runs good and no other issues. Any comments would be appreciated.
By the way,a great forum and i have learned so much by reading and searching threads. kudos to the admins. and all members for helping each other out. Thanks to all....

i wouldn't worry about this at all, i think this is just normal for oil pressure gauges lol, this is just my opinion and i could be wrong i guess...another opinion would be great

The dash gauges in these Blazers are awful. My volt meter reads low sometimes then 14V. Yet everytime I check the Volts with my digital voltmeter it is the same no matter were the dash volt meter reads. Temp is the same way. Oil reads pretty steady but every so often it reads 38 PSI were normal it reads 40 PSI at cruising speed 20 PSI @ idle. Cold 60 PSI.

just to clarify...my gauge does go up and down in relation to startup, warming up, acceleration and so on,which i know is a quirk in our blazers. However, when i say my gauge is erratically moving i mean it will go back and forth very, very quickly between say 18-22 on the gauge when idling at a red light or stopped at a stop sign. sometimes it is steady as a bell at 20 when stopped. Dont seem to have any issues when in park.Could it be a bad ground and or connection. Bad gauge. Since the dist i hear drives the oil pump and correct me if i'm wrong, but would a worn dist gear cause this. Like i mentioned the oil pressure switch was changed several months ago to no avail. Is their another connection or sending unit that i can check. It is annoying as hell and i'm worried that this could lead into something more serious.
thanks all...

I could be wrong here but I believe they still use voltage limiters They control the voltage to the gauges. That could be the cause. In any case I sure would not worry about it.
