Just wondering if someone could help me with a SES problem.
Have a 95 Chev Blazer 4.3L V6. I replaced the starter, which was
not a easy job. After replacing, the car starts fine and no SES light
while the car is ideling. I go about a 1/4 of a mile and the SES light
starts flashing. Go back home and shut off engine. Restart engine
and the light is off while ideling again. I took it to two different
auto zones to see if any codes were present, none were found.
I was wondering if maybe i touched something to do with the trans
while i was replacing the starter? Anybody have any idea's of what
my problem is. I did try disconecting the battery and pulling the two
fuses to see if it would clear, but same problem. Thanks! Harry!

 

A flashing SES light typically is due to a misfire condition.

I didn't think the parts stores could check codes on a 95. At least that's what they told me, when I had my 95 POS. They said, "96 and up".

In my 95's defense, it ~was~ a good truck. Eight years of being "Dave'd", was just too much for it. lol

 

The flashing service engine light means that you are misfiring on one of the cylinders. If it persists, it may be a sign of a bad plug or plug wire. If it is intermittent, then you are probably just getting what is called a random misfire. I had the random misfire issue.The mechanic told me to run some injector cleaner through the gas tank. This solved the problem. If this hadn't solved the problem, then the next step was going to be taking the injectors off and cleaning them.
