Default fuel filter change GONE WRONG....

today i changed my fuel filter.........took forever, finally got the side that screws in off, and then got the quick connect off, tried to reinstall it, to find out im getting a shower of gas all over.....think when taking off the nut, i twisted the fuel line and cracked it or something....showers fuel behing the fuel filter, and also from the quick connect.... is it installed right??? i know fuel shouldnt be leaking from the connector. how to i know if its on secure? i tried pulling it off but it seems connected. and is there a way to patch the fuel line? or do i have to drop the tank and replace whole line???/ HELP ME PLEASE!!! im in over my head and no one knows about cars but me, i screwed up big time somehow, advice appreciated

you dont need to drop it but your gonna have to lower it to get access to the sending unit to replace the line you damaged .

Do you see a break or hole in the line? If not a couple of things you can check.

On the line that screws into the filter there is an o-ring that may have fell off the line when you removed the filter. Without the o-ring gas will be leaking out. If its leaking from the front quick connect fitting, you may not have snapped it in all the way. A drop of oil on the fitting helps.

I would suggest removing the filter and checking for the o-ring and try your installation again. Hope this helped.

not sure of ur loacl state law on compresion fitting but... cut the line get a replacement at the parts store and use the comrpession fitting to tie it into the old line

or if u know how.. double flare the line when u cut it an get the replacement line and use a line union...

Well:happy birthday ryito1122334455! Please buy yourself some line wrenches and some PB Blast for your own birthday present this year and you wont have these problems in the birthday years to come! Really,do your research first if its your first time wrenching, and these issues will be easily overcome! IE: fuel filter change on these units really takes about 20-30 min! Best of luck to you and Happy Birthday!
