Default Ignition coil issue

I am continuing my quest to diagnose my misfire issue. Altough my SES light has not come on in about two or three weeks, in the mornings up get a misfire issue. After about 10 minutes of driving the misfire/hesitation in non-existent. I followed test 5 outlined on this website Part 5 -GM Misfire, No Spark/No Start Tests (4.3L, 5.0L, 5.7L).

When I perform that test my multimeter did not show any volts. Is this an indication that the coil is going out? Are there any other tests I can do?

No.. no volts there means the coil isnt getting power. Are you sure you pierced the wire? With key on?

CASE 2: If your Multimeter DID NOT display 12 Volts, you must find out why you're missing this voltage. Without this Voltage the Ignition Control Module (ICM) nor the Ignition Coil will work. Resolving this Power issue should solve your No Start - No Spark Condition.

Better read it again This will NOT cause a misfire. It WILL cause a no start and no run condition. If your engine starts and runs, better check your multimeter.

Without the SES light on, and only experiencing the misfire cold, check fuel pressure and leakdown first, then post your results. Key ON, engine OFF, fuel pump running, pressure must be 60psi to 66psi and must remain above 55psi for 10 minutes after the pump shuts off.
