Default Funny noise only after start up after a shut off.

Hi all, I have a 2001 S series, and I hear a noise when I am moving either in R or in D after I start the truck. The noise happens after the truck is off then started then I move forward. If I leave the truck running and put it in park, then drive forward the noise is not there. It is only there after the truck is off, then started again and I only hear it when I am moving either forward or reverse. I do not hear it when the truck is still. I am thinking power steering box or power brake booster.

Sometimes the noise is faint, other times it is louder. Any ideas?

Well, today I started truck and drove at about 15-20 mph's (went 10 feet) and heard a moan sound. Picture a sqeaky wooden door. I tohught was brake pads but I now doubt it. The noise appears as a moan then stops and does not come back after driving until I shut truck off again and restart and drive.

I put the truck in P, left it running and then drove again 10-15 mphs no noise. I repeated this event 3 or 4 ttimes and no noise.

Now, I shut truck off, started again drove very slow....bingo noise. I repeated....shut truck, started it, floored it and noise.

Hell, I shut the car, started it, left it running for 15 minutes, then drove it...frickin noise was back after sitting for 15 minutes.

It sounds to me as the truck is going through a series of checks when the truck is starting to move after it has been shut off. Maybe checking power to something like pumps or booster.
