Default Fuse keeps blowing 98 Blazer 4x4

I am trying too get my problem finally fixed... My 98 Blazer 4x4 keeps blowing the #15 10amp fuse. When it blows my temp gauge, gas gauge/low fuel light come on, overhead gauge quits working, battery light comes on and the gear selector light quits working. Sometimes it will blow the fuse after the first time I shut the vehicle off and then restart it, other times it might be a day or 2 before it blows the fuse. Another note, the 4x4 push button switch on the dash sometimes has the 2hi light on and sometimes it is off, no light on... I was told either I have a short somewhere or I simply need a new 4x4 push button switch on the dash. Before I go start buying parts I thought someone might have had this same problem and I can get it fixed as cheaply as possible. Last thing it just started blowing the fuse a few days ago, never had the problem before... Sorry for the long post, just wanted too be as clear as possible, thanks.

You should start to disconnect items that might be at fault so to isolate the bad part of the circuit.

My experience with a fuse that would blow was that seemingly out of no-where it blew disabling the instruments, radio and gear selector display. (There might have been other items killed off but I can't remember.) The only way I was able to solve it was to disconnect items one-by-one. That is how I learned it was my radio. When I got it out I noticed something ratting it in. I took the cover off and found two nickles in it! My best guess is that they shorted out the power supply in the radio which blew the fuse.

Good luck and be sure to report back what you learn.

Thanks for the reply... My stereo works fine, no problem even now. I forgot too mention that the 4wd didn't work when I bought it. I took it too a shop and had it fixed, 4wd worked fine, that is the 3 button switch lit up and you could hear it engage. I have never used the 4wd as of yet, never enough snow ect nor do I go off road with it. Crazy thing is that the lights on the 3 button switch on the dash work when they feel like it! I called my local parts store and he said that more than likely if the lights work part time that the 4x4 switch is faulty...
