fyi about leaking oil lines
 

I have a 2000 blazer that had leaking oil cooler lines. The leaks were at the transition from the aluminum pipe to the rubber hose. The crimping was a joke. The new lines from the dealer are 95 and 89 dollars. I was able to fix them for about 25$. You will have to remove them. I had to put a pry bar between the oil pan and the front differential to pry the motor over to get the one end out. Then clean up the hoses and cut the crimps with a cutting wheel. Peel the crimps off and replace the hose with 1/2" ID heater hose. Use good hose clamps and place them over where the crimps should have been and there are no more leaks. I used to lose about 1qt of oil in 2000 miles. The underside of the blazer is so coated with oil I will not have any rust ever. You should replace the seals at each block before you reinstall the fixed hoses. The OEM part is 15701792 they are around 3$ a piece. Good Luck

I have repaired the remote oil lines on earlier 4.3L motors by removing them and basically copying the factory designed crimp connections, but with 3000psi hydraulic crimp connections brazed onto the factory lines (after cutting off the factory crimps) and then crimped onto 3000 psi hyraulic hose.

I would not use heater hose to hold back potentially 60psi engine oil. Nor would I use only one hose clamp. If I were to use hose clamps, I would use two hose clamps per end positioned opposite each other. I would also only use hydraulic hose (1/2" ID) for its FAR superior pressure holding capabilities. Also, there is no reason to remove the lines to do this. Get a small pipe cutter and simply cut the lines. Deburr the edges inside and out. Install the hydraulic hose and clamps. Done.

I have to fix my leaky remote oil filter/cooling lines as well. Might as well do it while I have the tranny, y-pipe, front axle, and splash gaurd out.

Nope, sorry. That truck has long since gone to the crusher! My grandfather was never nice to vehicles. This one bounced off of acouple telephone polls in its life and got repaired, but the frame damage it suffered the last time put it to rest for good.
