Default gauge never reaches temp

okay so i replaced my thermostat because it was stuck open and changed out my coolant and the coolant temp sensor for the gauge but now the gauge will never get above that second large dash inbetween 40 and 100 celsius. before i replaced the thermostat it would once in a while creep up to the 100 mark and then trickle back down to the second one. i replaced the rad cap also. i am pretty sure I need new valve covers would this affect it?

any help would be greatly appreciated and i apologize if this topic has been brought up before.

No, valve covers have no relationship to cooling. Beings I don't have conversions for metric I have no idea what 40-100 Celsius is. So maybe someone who knows that can help you out with that issue.

You should be reaching close to 90 Celsius which is 195F
If anything you should be reaching operating temp and faster now. A stuck open thermostat would have never brought you up to the operating temp of 195F.

Try a better thermostat. Several of us had the same problem a few months agao.. the one I pulled out looked almost new, but was warped. look close, you may find a slight gap one side of the valve flap.

Thermostats seem to be getting cheaper & cheaper. Back in the day you reused them etc. Today if I open my cooling system at all I change the thermo.

Thanks for the conversion.

just a quick C -> F gouge.. Take temp in Celcius, double it, subtract 10%, add 32...

90C, double it, (180), subtract 10% (18) = 162, add 32, = 195F

I use it when I'm flying as weather reports are in C

35C, doubled (70), minus 10% (7), = 63, add 32 = 95F
