Headlight wiring problem

Headlight wiring problem
I had a accident in rt. front bending fender and pushing the back wall in a little which the headlightattaches to. I bent that back out, spliced in a new plug for my head light, and now the head light on that side and both high beam lights come on dim when headlights are on. Drivers low beam works fine. If either bulb on passenger side is removed, they go out, but drivers side works normally, both low and high beam.
Is there a ground problem, or maybe a pinched wire between my battery and the back wall of grill, or is it maybe a modulator that got jarred and not working, where ever that would be. cant seem to figure out why light only comes on dimly, and it is involving the highbeam lights too, only dimly.
any suggestions or help???
Thanks
Nate

RE: Headlight wiring problem
It sounds like you have a poor ground. You can just splice in a new ground wire to the socket you installed. That should fix it for you.

RE: Headlight wiring problem
thats what i was thinkning but, funny enough, i jumped the wire to the battery negative and it still didnt fix it, so really weird that the gound wouldnt change anything. just wondering if the wires are crimped inside somewhere or cut behind the metal i cant see

RE: Headlight wiring problem
can you or anyone tell me, if its the wires behind the metal that i cant get to, can i spice the wires into the other headlight and just run them behind the grill and avoid the whole wiring that is there, or would that put too big of a load on one side and cause more problems or hurt the other side lights????

RE: Headlight wiring problem
I don't think you can just ground out the lights on these things...
There's kind of a screwy voltage thing going on (the reason why it's so annoying to get the quadbeam mod to work, lol)
Make sure the fuses aren't burnt... That'll make 'em light up funny.
Not sure if the funny voltage thing applies to the '96 - '97 year, but I'm pretty sure it does for '98+
