Heater Blender Door

I think my heater blender door is broken or not working properly. Whenever I turn the key on it starts to open and then it shuts and it keeps doing this over and over. The air temp goes from hot to cold. I tried another temperature control module and that didn't fix it. I believe the blender door is operated by an electric actuator. Is there any way to check this? Is this a common problem? Do I have to remove the dash to get to it?

FYI - It has the computer climate control.

I believe that it is behind the glovebox. The glovebox rotates down and forward and that lets you see behind it...

That's the problem, when I pull the glove box down, I can't see the actuator. I do see the vacuum controlled actuator that controls whether the air goes to the dash vents or the floor vents and it is working properly. It looks like the electric actuator that controls the blender door is on top of the heater core box and it is hard to see or get to. I guess I'll have to remove the dash to get to it unless someone can tell me another way to get to it or test it.....

Thanks.

Here is a photo of the location of the valve you are talking about. It is like you said but i don't think that you will need to tear the dash out. If you can work by "braille" you might get a small metric wrench in there to pull out the valve/sensor...

I'm having the same problem... Anyone have troubleshooting tips for the heat blender door motor or controls?

Oh and Thanks 20Blazer00
for the great drawing... It helped me identify the part I was looking for. But how do I test/troubleshoot further without completely opening the dash.

Speaking of opening the dash. Any tips on doing that on a 99 with auto air?
