HELP! Is my Blazer going to blow up? SAFETY ISSUE
My 1997 Blazer had the fuel-cut off valve broken when I last dropped the tank to work on it. I was told this check valve was to prevent gas from pouring in in case of a roll over situation. Is this true?
I smell the fuel when I get out of the car. I'm just afraid that this will cause a possible explosion with the cat being close by? Am I ok? Or should I not drive the vehicle?

Any fuel leak can be potentially dangerous so NO you shouldn't drive it. Check underneath your truck to see if there's a visible leak somewhere. At first I didn't see my fuel leak, the only reason why I found it was because of a hissing sound it was making. I found it was a bent pastic fuel line, but then again it might be that valve, either way the gas smell indicates something isn't right.

I would not worry about the catalytic converter much, but you really should not drive the vehicle with a known fuel leak.

Well I'm not leaking fluids .... just vapors. But I guess that's not as good either.

A full tank of gas is safer than a half tank of gas would you believe.
