Here's something interesting...
Good Day! Over the past several months I've noticed an unusual thing happening with my 97 Jimmy with 188K. Keep in mind this only happens on cold starts: When I reach in through the open window or door and hit the key,as soon as the motor catches(immediatly) the unit lurches forward about an inch! Not fast or forcefully, just kind of rocks forward. I do not sense this occurring when I am in the seat if I start it,which is understandable. I have owned GM trucks my whole life and have never seen this. Nothing is wrong,so I will not try to fix anything,as the unit runs flawlessly. Anyone else seen this or have an explanation? Thanks to all for a great forum! step66

I'm thinking along the lines of the parking pin in the trans being worn &/or trans fluid being old & thickening too much when it's cold. Those 2 things in conjunction could cause your cold start issue.
