Default How to check if oil pressure turned off power to my fuel pump

Does anybody know anything about the oil pressure switch having somthing to do with the fuel pump and fuel pump relay maybe some kind of safety device that shuts off the fuel pump in case of the oil pressure droping below a certain pressure like if the car ran low on oil and shuts off the fuel pump.
I have a chevy Blazer 2002 with a 4.3 vortec engine. It has been trouble free till today out of the random it died. Restarted fine ran to the store came out and it started fine again, putting grocerys in back with the AC on it died again. This time not restarting just turning over. I pulled the MAF sensor and cleaned it with the maf cleaner. reinstalled and still not starting. I did notice there was no oil pressure while cranking the motor over and checked the oil. it was down 2.5 quarts so refilled it thinking maybe some sensor related to oil pressure may be keeping it from starting. It has good fuel pressure. I didnt put it on a guage or anything but it had plenty of spray pressure. What do you think it could be.
any help appreciated.

Unfortunately, having 'plenty of spray pressure' tells you absolutely nothing about whether there is enough pressure to start. Follow the steps in this threadto diagnose any fuel system issue.

After re-reading my post I should have added that the pressure went from a good healthy spray to absolutley nothing. That is why I was leaning tward the low oil pressure turning off my fuel pump...If that is actually something that happens. I just read about it and it seemed like something to check before dropping my tank.

I am unaware of Blazers having an oil pressure/fuel cut-off system. Don't go dropping the tank until you have done the steps outlined in the link I provided in my last post.

Yah oil pressure shouldnt kill the fuel pump,it just turns on a warning light, and your engine quickly tares itself up.
