Idle too high

Idle too high
I recently replaced the intake gasket and valve cover gaskets and of course had to remove the throttle body. I never one time unhooked the linkage, I simply moved it to the side out of my way for the time being. Took it for a spin, now she idles too high, I noticed my gas peddle was almost to the floor, so im guessing something with the linkage got screwed up. Whats the easiest way to loosen/tighten the cables?

Hey! I don't know if I can answer your exact question, but when I did this job I did not move the cable/linkage assembly to the side, but instead u-turned it over backwards toward the firewall;it seemed to move in that direction with the least resistance. So what it sounds or seems like you may have kinked the cables. Make sure that all hardware and brackets are in place and in the proper order. When I put mine back together,it didn't want to seat quite right, but when I noticed I had missed a nut under a bracket that still had another nut on top of the bracket-it all went together well. Make sure those studs are well into their homes as well! The linkage cables are very forgiving so I feel that a messed up routing is your real issue. Always use a digital camera when doing a job like this the first time is my advice! Best to you! step66

well I figured it out! Step66, I believe you were right. With all the moving I did I must have tightened the cruise linkage up, which was holding the throttle body open a little bit, therefore idleing high. I adjusted the linkage and wala! I appreciate the help!
