It is the electrical part. 120 dollars. WOW.

I will probably take it apart later. Once it warms up a little. I always enjoy a challenge of doing something without spending much money.

UPDATE

Cleaned all battery cables and ground connections.Drove it for almost a week.
Problem still there.

Bought new switch at Auto Zone for $90.00.

Problem solved....

Only problem installing was getting the 2 screws out.It didn't have the tamper proof torx screws.

Had to use a deep dish #4 metric socket and cut a paper clip the length of it and stuck in it and it fit perfect.

Picked up the switch at oreilys for about 85 bucks. Fixed the problem like a charm. As an added bonus the fuel guage is working too so that's even better. I'll take all the help I can get. LOL.

i had the same problem with 97 blazer (it seems this might be the most common problem dang)

i replaced the ignition switch and it was like the light from heaven blinded me... my 2 year blinking check engine light turned off, still off, crazy i swear my transmission shifts better now too... it was brand new... cranked right up one turn... until morning... every morning my battery dies... still looking for reason 2 sep fuses have this connecting drain... spuds704 might have given me what i am looking for at least... faulty ground... but where ??

nothing has been done to this car at any shop recently i did notice my passenger window will not work if from passenger switch only drivers switch (even with lock off hheh) i did however just re-attach my drivers door panel and wonder if i have clipped a wire or something in that process... does any one no if the #13 radio fuse and the #1 brake fuse have any business in the drivers door ?
thanks

Yes, but you'll need the electrical schematic for your specific model year vehicle. It's a matter of checking voltage at each pin, in each position, (Acc, off, run, and crank) at the ignition switch connector.

NOTE: The ignition switch and electrical schematic used on 1997 is unique to that year. The schematic in the "Anatomy of the ignition switch" link does not apply to 1997.

Replaced ignition switch. Still no start.no power to half the fuseblock. Got fuel fire and 150 psi. On all cylinders compression.
I'm stumped. Replaced pcm. Still no power to half of the fuseblock.
