Default I'm back... but need advice

Hey guys. It's been a while, quite. Anyway, while I've been indisposed my blazer has been sitting and, well, now it's in the shop being repaired from a 7 yr sit. Anyway, the paint as all surfaced, the engine color is chipping away, gaskets all dried, brand new duratrac tires all dry rotted and cracked to snot, lifters tick worse than ever, comes to a dead stop when let off gas. Tons. But , now that I'm in Georgia, s10 country, my new mechanic is doing his thing to bring her back to life. U guys know things better than I do by far. What should I look for in immediate repairs to address issues that could arise a 7 year upstate New York sit ...

I would start with the basics first, complete tune up and oil change with new oil filter, fuel filter, radiator flush and fill.... new brake pads and possibly replace the rotors and calipers??? Obviously you will need new tires if they are dry rotted... Hopefully it won't need much more than that???

7 years is a loooong time. In addition to the above after that long I'd want to flush the tank and replace fuel filter before running that old varnished gas and water through my engine. And basically all the fluids and filters should be changed except maybe the washer fluid and maybe power steering. Brakes probably should be inspected and cleaned at a minimum, especially caliper guide pins. It's essentially a matter of getting it to a point where it can run safely enough to let you identify and diagnose all the other stuff that needs to be fixed.

I had one sit for about 5 years but it was in a garage. Didn’t need much, door seals, tires, oil and gas was it. Have put 100,000 miles on it since.

i would do oil and filter, replace gas if needed, check all fluid levels, new tires if needed. Then start driving it to see where you are at.

coolant is a whole nother thing. Dexacool should be changed every 100,000 (I think) and not mixed with other coolants. Only a complete change is appropriate or you get a brown sludge.

Strictly speaking Dex-Cool is rated for 5 years or 150,000 miles, whichever comes first. So 7 years is clearly beyond the recommended service interval.

Just got word from the guy who is trying to get it up n running that the coolant that leaked inside the block sat too long and completely seized the block. He bent a bar to try to turn it.
