Default Intake manifold confusion... help!!

Hello!

New to the site! I'm Having a little trouble installing a used engine in my 1995 Blazer. I purchased a motor from a local used parts dealer, and I was told it came from a (2000-something?) 4WD GMC sonoma with 170k miles on it. I paid $300 and got everything except the intake manifold (which they ended up giving me a couple free manifolds). Long story short, I only have time to work on this thing on the weekends, and after all the prep work to this motor, I pull the one that's in the truck and guess what? Totally different bolt patterns on the block/heads for the manifold. Can anyone point me in the right direction so I can figure out what steps I need to take to get this blazer back up and running?
Thanks for all your help in advance!

You need a 95 or older "W" (8th character of the VIN) engine. 96 & newer will not interchange.

If I am not mistaken, the blocks are the same but everything else is different. It would be easier to get a 95 motor for it.

As I understand it, some threads changed to metric specs.

Aquiring another motor isn't really in my budget right now. I did order the gaskets for Sonoma engine though. my main concern now is if the oil pan is going to be an issue?

How is spending money on the wrong engine in the budget?

Unfortunately you are going to spend way more to make the wrong motor fit than you would getting a used correct motor. I think a used engine from 1995 to 1999 is $225 - $250 from my local u pull it. You will spend way more than that to fit the wrong motor.

I bought the motor several months ago when I had the funds. Money just happens to be tight right now. Hopefully the guy at the local yard here will work something out with me then...

Sell your incorrect engine. Or you could trade it for an engine for a 95.
