Alright guys, so I have a 2000 Chevy blazer 4wd 4.3l 6v with a knock sensor error code. So I look back and see it's not even connected. Then I look down at the knock sensor and it is a bolt on sensor that needs a 2 wire plug. I just ordered the right sensor but I need help figuring out how to get back to it to remove the dang thing. Can anyone suggest a video or give me step by step process on how to do this? It will be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance!

 

Your 2000 requires a single wire knock sensor.


The distributor and oil pressure sending unit must be removed before the knock sensor can be removed.


Before removing the distributor, remove the distributor cap to expose the rotor. Using a socket and ratchet on the crankshaft bolt, rotate the crankshaft clockwise until the rotor is aligned with the "6" on the distributor housing, like this:



When reinstalling the distributor, make sure the rotor is again aligned with the "6" when the distributor is fully seated against the intake manifold.


WARNING:
DO NOT operate the starter, or move the crankshaft while the distributor is removed.

Took everything out and the old knock sensor but now there's a new problem. The bolt for the new sensor is almost double the size of the old one. What do I do? I know this is the right sensor

 

You'll need to make a trip to your local hardware store, Lowes, or Home Depot plumbing department. Bring both sensors along with you. The threads in the block are SAE, not metric. You might be able to find a brass adapter that screws into the block, and the correct sensor will screw into the adapter. You might need a 90 degree elbow to keep it from interfering with the distributor, etc. The problem is your engine has been replaced. 1996 through 2000 use the single wire sensor. 2001 through 2005 use the two wire sensor.

 

You have a few options.

#1 - Drill and tap the block to fit the 1/4" NPT threads on the bottom of the one wire knock sensor. This would physically convert your block to the older style.
#2 - Fab a mounting adapter that will bolt to the block using a socket head cap screw that will use the existing hole in the block and have the proper 1/4" NPT thread for the stock sensor. This may be result in the KS sitting up too high off the bellhousing, competing for space with the other items at the back of the block.
#3 - Get the connector for the 2-wire sensor, ground the gray wire, and splice the dark blue wire.

 

Can you return the sensor and get the 2 wire sensor?

 

This post just save me I haven't had a knock sensor for 4 years I found this and i may be on the right track anybody got photo evidence of how to deal with the swapped motor issue I have a 2000 gmc jimmy but the more was taken out of a 01 or 02 blazer im not 100% sure
