Default 01 Blazer Caliper Slide Pin Removal

Hey everyone, I'm new here, but not that Ive found the site will definetly be back. I am having a problem with the brakes on my 2001 Blazer Xtreme. I have had this issue for a while and is time to get it taken care of for good.

This weekend, I replaced my brake pads on the rear of my truck b/c a grinding noise had started when the brakes were applied. When I removed the pads, I noticed the inner pads were significantly more worn than the outer (to the point that on the passenger side, there was no pad left). I know this is probably due to the caliper slide pins, but I can figure out how to remove them. I removed the 2 bolts that I thought were a single piece with he slide pins, but this was not the case, and the caliper would not break free from the mounting bracket. Does anyone have any suggestions? I need to get this taken care of before I go through another pair of pads.

You removed the 2 correct bolts, the caliper should come right off, if not get a huge C clap and squeeze the brake pads so the piston inside the caliper can compress. Then you should have access to the pin slide which which should just slide out. If not then they are rusted on, just get a pair of grip plyers and twist and pull the pins out. This has happened to me and took a little while. Once you remove the slides, you need to clean the crap/rust inside the pin guides. Dont forget to grease the new pins when installing them.

Thanks for the reply. Is the best way to get to them to pull back the little black "boot" that covers the pins? I think I'm gonna try and tear into this again this weekend if I have time.
