Main Electrical power to Chassis problem

Main Electrical power to Chassis problem
I have a strange situation on my daughters 97 Blazer (4.3 liter V6, 4WD). Her fiancé and I pulled the motor to replace the crank shaft and bearings. He removed some of the basic items and disconnected the wiring. We then removed the motor, I rebuilt the bottom end and replaced the motor while he was at work. He finished up reinstalling the rest of the items and reconnected the wiring harness. When he reconnected the battery – nothing. No lights, horn, ignition etc. I traced the wires going from the battery to the starter, alternator and all was correct. However, there was a smaller diameter wire that connected to the battery with a factory quick connect which is too small a diameter to carry the vehicle electrical needs.
On the starter there are two wires, one to the solenoid and one large from the battery to the main connection. Is there suppose to be another attached to transfer 12V to the rest of the car? If not where does the main juice from the battery to the chassis electrical connect? The main power block on the drivers side near the firewall has no power either.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Frank

RE: Main Electrical power to Chassis problem
Please see the attached files. The wiring schematic shows the connections for various components that you can test. The second image shows the location of the 175A BATT fuse (under the battery tray) which you will want to test. If you are not getting power to the large starter post, then something is wrong with either the connection at the battery (check both positive and negative connections) or something has happened to the battery cable. If you are getting power to the large starter post, then most likely something happened that caused the 175A BATT fuse to blow... This 'something' should have been pretty evident as it takes on heck of a dead short to blow a 175A fuse...
Good luck!
