Default Metal on Metal Noise

Hello Folks
My 96 Jimmy 4x4 has generated a high pitch squeel at all speeds at the pass side front.
After removing the RH tire and rotor,I rotated the axel by hand.
You can hear it sqeak during a 1/4 turn of the axel.
It seems to be coming from the INNR CV joint area where the 2 flanges bolt together.
My question....is there a bearing in there to relpace or is the shaft worn out,is it worth
yanking out to repack with grease ?
The boots look good, and no leakage detected.
Any advice would be appreciated.

I have the same squeal. When I turn right, even the slightest, while driving I get a metal on metal squeal. Hopefully this will generate more discussion as to why it is happening and how to fix it!

There is no bearing in between the flanges they just bolt together. As for cv shafts youll know when they're bad they snap crackle and pop and you jus replace em'. I would double check the dust shields. The older they get the easier they bend and the reason you could get it in only a quarter of a turn is cause the rotors warped a little. I've had the same problem before and I just fixed my boss's envoy that had the same prob. Thats why it will make the noise when turning the wheel cause your transfering the weight of the truck to the one side and its bent just enough to hit the rotor when all working parts flex a little. I've also expierienced the same noise when my parking brake stayed out a little too far and was scratching the inside of my rotors when turning corners.
