Default Might be the tranny might be something else.

I have a 1996 2wd Chevy blazer LT. Yesterday i was making my trip home from college for spring break and when i hit about 70 Going down the highway i noticed that it seemed like the Transmission was shifting from fourth into nutral into fourth into nutral, back and fourth. When i would Shift it down into regular drive nothing happened, but when it was in overdrive it would do it. Seemed like it only happened between 68 and 73mph then after about an hour or so of driving it stoped. and it would stop when i would hit the gas or slow down. Any one had a similar problem before? Any ideas what it is. I would really apreciate it cause i have to get back to college next weekend and i would like to know if my trans is going to fall out on me or not. All help will be much apreciated. thanks in advance.

If the fluid is not low, it sounds like you have a rebuild in your near future. The OD is going out. After the fluid gets warm, it leaks out past the seals for the piston and causes the problem.

Ok. so i toped off the tranny and about 50 miles away from my apt it starts to lose power like its running out of gas and the service engine soon light comes on and starts to flash. I shut it off on the side of the road for about 10min, then started and continued down the road going about 50 in a 65-70mph zone. Needless to say, everyone behind me wasn't happy. I took it to the chevy place here in lubbock and the next morning they call me up. Aparently the cam position sensor went out and caused the distributor gear to go out and the rotor to wear. So they replaced the sensor, the gear, the entire distributor and cleaned the fuel filter for good measure. I was very glad that i didn't have to rebuild the engine, and i was suprised that i made it almost 300 miles before anything happened. Now i just have some slight engine vibrations at idle, but i figure that i might need to change the sparkplug wires and spark plugs as im pretty sure they are the only things that i have not changed yet. Just have to await some more money.

i believe lastcoupe said that if the engine light comes on and flashes it has sensed a "catalyst damaging missfire" this was probably cause by all of the problems that you had fixed. i would keep on eye on it and pay attention to the o2 sensors.
