I put an MSD blaster coil in my 95 jimmy about 5mths ago and it FAILED. I went back to stock coil 2 days ago but not before replacing a lot more than necessary because I could not believe the coil went bad so soon.
It would stumble when I first started it and gave it gas until it warmed up or got on the highway.
I figured it was having a fuel problem so i replaced spider and nut kit.
Did'nt work.
Pulled my CAI went back to stock.
Did'nt work.
It started to give me problems starting kept having to crank to get to start the starter went replaced it .I started to think ign switch almost ordered new one.
Did'nt work.
Scan tool gave cam pos sensor code replaced.
Did'nt work.
Plugs,wires cap rotor replaced.
Did'nt work.
So there i am standing in my fathers garage wondering what the hellis going on with this truck and i see the original coil and module on the shelf so i say the hell with it i put back in the truck. turn the key she starts right up. She runs great now starts good and my pocket is a few bucks lighter but its running good and thats all i care about.

 

This is not the first time I have heard of MSD coils going bad shortly after install. The 3800 community has had a number of complaints about them.
