Default Need new rear diff cover...recommendations?

Hey Guys,

My 99 Blazer 140,000 miles of Michigan winters...needs a new rear diff cover. It literally is rotting away with paint pealing off and is nearly rusted through in the center. The bottom of the cover has a drip leak too, not terrible but needs attention before cold weather sets in.

I was thinking about an after market cover that has a drain for easier changes. But, having the rear sway bar that crosses very close to the diff would most likely limit the choices.

Any recommendations you have are appreciated.

Thanks!

Proposition: Suppose you have a drain plug and periodically service the rear diff. How often you going to open it up to inspect the ring gear wear?

How does it help when you have to change rear axle bearings?

Lets face it.. most people dont open the diff unless it's to troubleshoot or do axles, bearings.

Exactly, that's why I want one with a drain plug. I can almost bet no one has ever taken this cover off. I bought the truck with 135K on it so not sure.

drain plug is nice

plus if you get one that has a girdle it will make it a little bit stronger
