New guy needs help, Wont turn over
New to the forum. Quick intro. I have been on here for awhile , first post. Need help.
Chicago suburbs, into Hotrods and Harley's . I have a 98 Blazer LS 2 wheel drive. 97 Gmc Jimmy 4x4, and 98 S10 LS pickup 2 wheel. Had another 98 LS that sold. All 4.3's LOVE THEM ALL. I have searched and not found what I needed so I ask for your help.
The 98 will not turn over. Has full power everywhere but wont crank. If I jump the solenoid, it will start and then die when I take the screwdriver off. I have replaced the solenoid. nuttin. Checked for "fusable link" and do not see one between the starter and the under the hood starter relay in that fuse box. That wire is good, full continuity. Changed out the relay itself with a known good one(nice to have a few of these) and no change. OK, Ignition switch must be it, changed it, same problem. Whats left. Hmmmm. Neutral safety switch, that must be it. Replace it, no change. I am at a loss. I am no mechanic but have been working on cars and bikes since I was 12. My Dad has been a mechanic for 60 years, but thats old school. B4 computers in the cars. I need help. Don't know what else it could be. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The newer ones starting procedure is pretty much the same way. Just gotta get a test light and trace it. Try testing the purplr wire under the dash when you try to start it to make sure it has power coming outta the ignition switch. If so go under the hood and trace the small wire to the starter. Check the big wire too. Grounds. Might be a old alarm that is melfunctioning
