I have a 96 Blazer LS, 2 door, 4x4. I successfully took out the old U-Joints, but the new one's seem to be too wide to where I can't put the new snap rings in? I went to Autozone thinking I may have gotten the wrong one's, but they confirmed they were right? Is my 2 door blazer the sport model? They have 2 different kinds, the non-sport & sport. I actually got both to see if either would fit, but there's no way of putting the snap rings in place because the joint is too wide. These seem to be the stock joints since they still had the plastic in them that I had to heat out. I have no clue what could be going wrong.

 

Had the same problem but they do fit. I can't rememvber how they go right now but they will fit. Keep looking at it and you will figure it out.

My '97 is a non-sport (The Sport model is a ZR2). They gave me the Sport units (larger) which do not fit the standard 2 door 4WD LS and LTs.

If you have the ZR2 package (bigger suspension, 10.5 x 31 tires) you need the "Sport" joints.

 

if they barely barely dont fit then the ears might be bent on the driveshaft. i just did 3 ujoints this week and all were like that. basically the way i do it is get one cap in where you can easily get the snap ring in, whether it be a inner or outer doesnt matter, then press the u joint back against the snap ring if its way off where you cant see it you might have the wrong one, if its there you just cant get it in, make sure you do have it pressed back all the way then beat on ears of the driveshaft untill they spread.

something i been doing lately that really helps is get a small wire wheel that just fits in the holes where the u joint caps go and really clean them up and spray lube in there. 90% of the time after doing that i can pretty much just tap the caps in with a hammer and not even use the press

 

I have found exactly what abig84 related and if the ears weren't bent too bad I went easy with a wire wheel and lubed them into place. See,these were supposed to be "lifetime joints" HAH! LOL Good luck,you'll muck through it-even if it means having a compitent shop give a good shaft rebuild-It's still worth the price!Stay away from junkyard shafts IMO! step66
