Default No Brake Lights...Any Ideas????

Hi folks!

I've got a 1995 Blazer that I just discovered has no brake lights. I was installing a new trailer light connector....the flat 4-pin variety and went to test the set-up after I finished soldering all of the wires together. Everything worked fine except no brake lights on the boat trailer. Looked at the Blazer's rear end and no brake lights there either...on either side.

I thought I'd blown a fuse....check that and it looked good. Replaced it with another, just in case. No joy. Checked the bulbs on the Blazer, they seem fine. Finally stripped all of the new wiring off that I'd just put on, hoping to return it to original and see if the lights worked then...Nope!

I'm out of ideas. Can you help?

Gawd I hate trailer lights wiring!!!![:'(]

Its were the brake pedal is, when you push down there is a little wire connected to th pedal, it basically tells it to turn the lights on when their is force.

Got the new switch.....gonna go try to put it in.

Sure could use some specific instructions.....can anyone help?

Here's my plan:

Disconnect Battery Neg terminal.

Remove trim under the dash to allow access.

Get into Blazer, upside down, head on the driver's floor.

Peer up into black hole above brake pedal, hopefully spot switch.

Try to figure out how to get switch disconnected/removed.

Install new switch.....adjust if seems needed.

Reconnect battery neg.

Try brakes....keep fingers crossed.

Anything I'm leaving out?????

Failed miserably.

Switch is held in place by a metal clip that I couldn't remove.

Pro's turn Tuesday.

Geez... I wish I had of seen this earlier... This is a common problem for our vehicles. Some are even covered under a safety recall which would mandate free repair. It seems that the recall doesn't include your '95... Looks like it's an '01-'04 only...
