Hey gang!

I'm new to the group, and hope you can help me out.

I've got a 2000 Blazer with about 114,000 miles. A few years ago, I had the fuel pump go out, which had the same symptons (cranks good but no start). So the first place I checked was the pump (pulled the filter and turned the key) but am getting good gas flow.

A couple of mechanics assumed it was the crankshaft electric pickup (if that's the name - the thing with the magnet on the end that goes agains the crank on the front of the block), so I changed that ($56) and still have the same issue - no spark at the plugs.

I don't want to just start throwing parts at it, so I'm trying to figure out the best way to diagnose this. Any suggestions?

Don't let mechanics assume what the problem might be. If they can't be exact with what maybe wrong then take it to someone who can.

If you are not getting spark to the plugs, then you have to check the ignition system with a meter to find out where the voltage stops. Could be coil, or ignition module or some other related part could even be a bad connection or wire. Sometimes wires will break inside the insulation or even at connections.

So good luck finding your problem.

 

Most autoparts stores will test the ignition control modual for free.
