Its actually not remote its right on the block. The adapter that I am refering to basically connects the oil cooler lines and the oil filter directly together. I wish it were remote since its so difficult to remove the oil filter (when Im not using Fram).

Hmm, interesting, I wasn't aware that the 2wd setup was different. I'll have to look for a parts diagram I guess to understand more.

On my 4wd, the adapter takes the place of where a filter would go on a different version of the 4.3 block, and has lines that run to the remote filter location under the front bumper area. from there, more lines to the radiator/oil cooler. Looking at the parts diagram for the cooler hoses for a 2wd, I have to admit I'm confused a little. I hope you have had soem luck on your own with this problem.

Actually, I was able to correct the issue.

It seems as if the plate that comes with the Dorman repair kit is a little to thick. It wasn't allowing the oring compress against the block allowing oil to leak. I peeled off a paper layer from the plate and used that as a gasket and it works like a charm.

I am honestly surprised that they do not make a paper gasket like they do for every other part of the vehicle.

Anyone know what the torque specs are for the bolts on the block mounted adapter? Cant seem to find them in my service manual.....oil pan bolt specs are 18 ft-lbs on a 99 4.3l.....gona go with that if I cant find them anywhere.

I have that same issue and got my replacement BUT where do the o-rings go? Since I got the part and both gaskets were on the adapter, I won't know where the o-rings go until I tear mine apart...... wow! Any help here?
