Oil Pressure
#11
Oil and Filter change and out for another run....Made a 30 mile run stop and pull the stick, didn't care about the level, the oil was just change...anyhow when I pull the stick out the stick was smoking as I pull it out bit no smoke follow from the tube...I went home and the guy who lives next to my pulls in and we talk (Now keep in mind this is a farmers town, Cotton, Diary, and Feeder lots, John Wayne himself had a business here or I might say the little town next to this one), he first started with cotton didn't work so well so he and a guy who is still alive in the town and has one of J.W. cars they started what is call feeder lots. then feed cattle for your dinner plate...it was and is a sucess but between them and the dairy side don't know which is the worst smelling..but you know when you are getting close...hahahhaha.Also a hotel where the S.F. Giants had their spring trainning at, I wonder what ran them off....Anyhow, the farmer looks at my p/u and says I think I know what your problem is and of course I said what and he pointed down and said see your oil tube that you put your stick in and I said yes, he said take a look at how close it is to you engine exhaust (Almost touching it, very, very close) he said that is heating up your tube making the stick very hot and thats why you have smoke he even said look here at your oil stick you can see the browner spots on it where it got the hottest and of course he said not much you can do about it, Chevys made the 4.3 like that...Now this guy is a famer and has work on many, many farm equp to include the trucks they use, so I kinda will take his word for it...then we found another hose coming out of the intake fried so we replace that. Started it up and sat there and chew the fat for about 30 mintues, turn the engine off and pull the stick and it came out clean with no smoke, that broke hose clean it up....Just need to find a fix for the dip stick tube now and all will be well...
