Default overhead console w/ trip and remote compass?

I just installed an DIC with trip from a Bravada with a short overhead console. Everythings works correctly except the compass. Where exactly is the remote compass mounted on the trucks with short ohc's and trip computers? I need it for my compass to work, I believe. Thanks.

The compass module should be right there in the overhead console.

If it's just a matter of the compass not reading correctly, here's how to calibrate it:
The compass is self
-calibrating, so it does not need to be
manually set. However, if C (Calibration) is displayed,
the compass will need to be calibrated. You may also
place the compass in a noncalibrated mode by pressing
and holding the MODE and US/MET buttons
simultaneously while in the COMP/TEMP mode. After
about 10 seconds, the compass will display C and you
can release the buttons. Drive the vehicle in a complete
360 degree circle three times at a speed of less than
5 mph (8 km/h), and the compass will function
normally. Once the calibration is complete, the display

will return to a compass reading.

I need the remote compass before I can calibrate. Thanks for the info, Kyle.

I noticed there are four versions of the DIC.

In the first gens there is only display, that I've ever seen, it has the 6 pin power connector and does not have the trip function, since there is no class 2 data buss to supplu the info

Here is a pic of the remote compass on the units that had the short console. Why GM made 2 different kinds I have no idea. The remote unit is located on the arm of the black piece that outer shell screws into. This is one from a 97 Bravada with the short OHC. This is mounted on the topside of the arm on the piece thats mounted to the roof. I missed this item the first time and had to go back and get it.
