Default P0300 with a twist

Alright well it looks like im a new victim of the damn P0300 code, but i have a twist that i have never seen on here before.

So lately my torque converter has been unlocking on me when im on the freeway, sometimes randomly but usually after a hill. It just wont go back into overdrive for a while sometimes. Now two days ago when accelerating up a hill on the freeway i dropped it into 3rd so it wouldnt shift and at about 3000 rpm, 60mph i got the flashing check engine light, and when i put it back in drive the TC wouldnt lock up. I plugged in my bluetooth scan tool for my phone and only got a P0300, nothing else. cleared the code and the TC instantly locked up and all was well.

Cat was replaced probably 30k ago, Tune up (AC Delco) 35k ago but i didnt know any better and didnt use dielectric grease (maybe cause premature failure?), MPI spider done maybe 15k ago. Not that i think its the problem but i have new O2 sensors on the way (ordered them before the P0300 problem)

Ill keep this updated as i go, any ideas are appreciated.

Have you checked the camshaft retard? If you don't have the scanner to check that then pull the distributor and check the gear for wear.
