Default P0401 - EGR Flow Insufficient

Hello,

I have the code P0401 showing in my Blazer and I'm wondering what is the best method of cleaning the ports on the manifold. Would it be better to remove the EGR valve and get into the ports with some throttle body cleaner and a toothbrush or would I have to remove the intake plenum? I have a 1995 S10 Blazer 4.3L CPI (spider injection) 4x4

removing the intake plenum would be the best idea so no loose carbon stays in there and then causes other problems.
