P0440 Code Small Evap Leak Kinked hose
I've been chasing this Evap code for a long while.
Saturday, I swapped out the Cannister Vent Valve with a known good one. While I was under there by the rear axle, I noticed the 5/8th hose from the Vent valve to the Canister (under rear fender) had a kink in it. I shifted and moved it to try and get the kink out. I did not see any signs of breakage in that heavy Heat Hose style hose but would a kink set this code?
I can't image that air could not pass the kink on a hose that large. But who knows.
After Clearing the code, My daughter reports that the Check Engine light did come on but it took a fair amount longer then usual.
I didn't have a long enough Heater hose to replace this one...I may actually find some 5/8 pipe, bend it and cut out the kinked area. The hose is forced to turn tight in that area. Hard pipe will fix that.
