Default P0442 question

O.K. been farting around with this code for some time now, and im wondering could a leaking seal on the lower intake manifold also
cause this code to come on? I do have a leaking front lower seal
but only very slight, been like that for a couple years now, also had the
CEL for about the same time, just a thought... thanks

Im not sure if it would trigger that code.

Have you checked this link ? P0442 - Evaporative Emission Control System Leak Detected (small leak)

gio, yea did most of all on that thread u posted, dont have access to a smoke machine, and im too cheap to have some one do it for me, i have one more year before emissions testing, by then i will do the lower intake manifold, and the timing chain/water pump, i figger it needs it anyway.
i will keep poking around, the code dont interfer with anything so no harm is being done, if anyone has a thought chime in.. thanks Robert

P0442 is a small leak, .030" or smaller, in the EVAP system. Could be any one or more of several things leaking: Purge solenoid or seal, vapor canister, vent solenoid, fuel tank, filler neck, gas cap, fuel tank pressure sensor seal, fuel pump module O ring, or any of the lines connecting all that stuff together Follow the flow chart Xgiovanni posted and you'll find the problem.

Be aware that when the timing cover is removed, it must be replaced, and the crankshaft position sensor relearn must be performed with a capable scan tool.

thanks for the heads up on the relearn, i have the replacement parts for the timing chain including new cover, need to find the time and desire
to do the repairs, also have a BDS 5" lift waiting to be installed with a ZR2 rear axle, new 33" tire will arrive on friday, yay ....

just looking at any other logical possibility for the P0442 code that may have been over looked, i did replace the charchole canister, purge valve twice, and the other valve twice, gas cap, and played with a vacuum gun on the evap lines, need a smoke machine, or one of cigerette toten spellingbuddies to blow in the evap lines haha

Sounds like you covered a few bases already The filler necks like to rust out on these things and if it gets a pin hole in it, P0442 will show up for sure Dorman makes a replacement filler neck, around $40 for a 2 door and closer to $80 for 4 door, on Amazon.

Default P0442 solved finally

Ok, so for some time now i have been searching to get rid of this pesky
p0442 code, well i have found it......
I was filling up with gas, and this time filled all the way to the very brim,
and noticed a small drip of fuel under the car, i had a small leak on the skinny fuel line on the main filler pipe, so i installed two new hose clamps and cleared the p0442 code, and it has been over a week and its not returned.. also all the I/M ready code did reset this time...... yea!!!!
