Default PLEASE HELP. Drivers door wont open from outside

Okay so here's the story. I bought a 96 4 door blazer. When I bought it I knew that the drivers door didn't open from the outside, but I have a friend that's a mechanic. After looking more into it, we found that every time the outside handle is pulled the lock seems to be pulling back and is causing the door to lock and not be able to open. The door opens perfect from the inside with no problems. We took the door panel off and started checking the rods. Now this isn't my door panel but it's the only picture I could find to illustrate what I'm about to say.

Okay so imagine the panel is off. All the rods lead to the part that is in the red circle (what is the name of this mechanism?). Rods 1 and 2 are for the inside handle and lock, they work fine. Rod 1 is the lock and is the one that keeps pulling back when the outside handle is pulled. The problem is either with rods 3 and 4, or the part circled in red. What is the part circled in red called, could I order that part, or would I have to go to a junk yard?

Any help with this would be great. Thanks

Replaced both on my 96 blazer. Its not the locking mechanism, its the actuator attached to it inside the door. You have to pull the panel off, take the factory paper off that is protecting the inside of the door, make sure the window is up. Reach in with a pair of needle nose and pull the rods out of the retainers in the acutator ( real fun if you have big arms and hands) sometimes you can pop them out with a looong screw driver. Losen the outside bolts on the locking mechanizm, the hole unit drops down. When you see it, you will know right away whats wrong.

On mine the actuator worked fine but the fitting the rod fits in that is attached to the actuator has this rubbery silicone type sleeve it goes into on the actuator itself. On mine the sleeve ripped and the rod attachment kept popping out of the sleeve. Dealer price is about 90 bucks for a new unit. I found mine in the boneyard. Good Luck
